"Breathing Space"
In the summer of 1990 I traveled to Japan to study its traditional architecture.
The focus of the study was how the continuity of interior and exterior spaces
was achieved in traditional temples and teahouses and their gardens. The findings
of the study are applied to my work as an architect
in perceptually expanding interior spaces which link, where possible, with
exterior spaces such as gardens or decks.
